Default fire on xtian b/w 12th & broad!

does anyone have any details on the huge fire now being put out on xtian b/w 12th & broad? i was about to go to bed when i smelt smoke in our apartment and wandered to the front looking for the source. as i reached the living room, i saw the street outside filled with smoke. there were no sirens. i was outside a good 2 mins before i heard any approaching, but then 2-3 massive fire trucks and too many ambulances and police cars began their descent. the streets were pretty thick with billowing smoke, i even had to close the windows in the back bc it was getting painful to breathe and i could literally see the smoke pooling against my bedroom ceiling. there is ash floating in the air outside... this must have been a big fire though i never saw flames, just lots and lots of smoke. anyone living on xtian see any more?

Was this the 1200 block of Christian? We didn't hear/smell anything and we're on the 1100 block, but our house was sealed up pretty tight with central air on. I'll wander outside and try to find out. Weird considering there was a big fire on the 1200 block a few weeks ago.

in the confusion of the middle of the night, i thought the fire was on xtian, but it was at 933 s. 13th (NE corner w/carpenter). the fire on xtian a couple weeks ago was apparently at 1237 xtian. last nights fire seems pretty serious - the house has been completely condemned, the street is full of charred remains - but very luckily no one was hurt.

Did you find out how it started? It's a little unnerving to hear about two fires within a block radius in the same month.

In the 70's didn't people burn their city buildings for insurance money?

I guess that or vagrants/squatters considering the time of the fire and 2 fires in a month.
