An open letter to Sylvester...feel free to discuss what ticks you off about his lack of leadership with the police force that has us not only at the largest murder rate, but the largest amount of violence, criminal behavior, and quality of life crimes in QV/BV/Hawthorne....
meanwhile, I wish to entertain him with a non-complacent pictorial haiku that is devoid of syllabication and cultural artifacts that are reminiscent of poetic structure for the sake of information rather than entertainment: http://www.phillyblog.com/philly/sho...752#post563752

I love (hate) it that in three specific cases just in the past year Officer Johnson spoke his mind to the local media, in this case it was KYW... he was interviewed before the reporters got a hold of John Street.
What's the significance? Well, after Sylvester spoke in the morning, then the mayor was reached later in the day.... Sylvester recanted his remarks just in time for the 6 'o clock news. It's been known for a long time, ever since he's been police commissioner, that he's a sycophant for the mayor. He's a tired, broken man. I wish he could just quit right now but then Street would put someone equally useless in that position. I'll happy wait for the next 150 people to get murdered for his successor to be announced. Want to know some more fun facts? In the last 3 months just in the Gayborhood, several cops get assigned just to circle around Pure nightclub after hours. They also go up and down the tiny alleys in their cruisers [the cars only have a couple inches on either side of the tires to the curb]. It's so ridiculous seeing a cop cruiser trying to navigate Quince Street or Camac Street. Easier to do it on a bike or on foot. Last night I saw one going on Quince in the wrong direction and he got stuck from a van going the right direction [most everyone drives south on Quince by custom, not north]. Imagine if a SHOTS FIRED call goes out on the radio just blocks from that cop. He's immobilized. At first I thought the dealing and tranny prostitution must have been going up, but then I noticed that two of them do nothing but wait for Pure to close and they push a crowd-control fence down Chancellor Street to get them on to 13th Street faster after the disco closes. That's fighting crime I say! What a great use of resources. I don't mind the cops being there at all--more protection for me... but what about in the neighborhoods were waiting for a cop to show up can be a 30-minute or longer wait for something more serious? Did we get our influx of 1,000 new cops on the force that they can now take the place of bouncers at Center City nightclubs?
