Default Loud 'BOOM' last night

I live around the 200 block of Fitzwater and was woken up by a loud noise last night (I'm not exactly sure of the time, but I'm guessing sometime after 1am) Did anyone hear anything last night? Could have been anything, car backfire, gun, I'm not sure. Just curious....

I live on 2nd between Fitzwater and Monroe, and I heard the noise too. Woke me up from a dead sleep sometime around 2 a.m. I think (I was a little groggy). I went out on the roofdeck and looked around - didn't see anything - and gave up on it after that. It was a really loud noise though, and it didn't sounds like a gunshot or fireworks to me, more like a car crash or transforming exploding, but thats just my opinion. Not the best wake-up call though. Anyone figure out what it was yet?

You're right, it was louder than a gunshot. Woke me out of a dead sleep too.

It was VERY loud--I'm at 2nd and Queen and I heard it too. I thought 'gunshot' but then it got quiet again so I didn't know what the heck happened.

Could of been a tv or a can of propellant in the garbage when they crushed it

Which begs the question, why was the garbage truck picking up at 2 a.m.? I was under the impression that even private garbage trucks can't legally pick up before 6 a.m.

Ah ha! You are absolutely correct! However, are city trucks exempt from the law? I honestly don't remember, but I can't imagine the city fining itself-I know I often see our city trash trucks late at night changing the public trash cans.

Sometimes I am awakened at around 4 am by garbage trucks emptying dumpsters on my block.
