Default Looking for a local tennis partner

(Please disregard the name on the thread -- it's my wife's login.)

I'm looking to start getting back into playing tennis, but it's been a long time since I've picked up a racket. Are there any beginning-amateur tennis players out there who would be interested in meeting up at the Weccacoe or Seger tennis courts for an occasional game?

Default tennis

i am an intermediate player who hasnt played barely at all in the past few years. i'd be interested in hitting...tho coordinating time may be tough because i have a toddler... its worth a try tho. i better get my racker re-strung! weccacoe is perfect location. what happens there tho is that once school is over and summer programs begin, there are kids tennis lessons there almost all day...

Are there any 4.0, 4.5 level players out there that want to hit?

There is a great scene down at FDR park. Lots of courts and some great players. I'm playing on a USTA team out of there. Thanks to Ms. Verna...those courts are nicer than the ones I used in the 'burbs.

I played on some courts on 8th...near Poplar once. Kids were throwing rocks at us while we played. It was fun.

Brownie,

I actually have two toddlers -- a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Maybe we could coordinate a tennis match/playdate at Weccacoe. Afternoons after 4-ish are usually good for me, and weekends anytime. Let me know what works best for you. Maybe we can get out there a couple times before the major summer programs begin.

I would also be interested in hitting, although I am not totally familiar with the location that you are speaking of. However, i have taken lessons at FDR park and I agree that the courts there are great. I actually signed up for a league thrugh tennisphilly.com. It starts next week and goes through the summer. I'm not great, just a basketball to tennis convert(it was time for a change).

I'm about a 4.5 player, and I'd be interested in hitting sometime. I've also been trying to find out how to join a USTA team in the area. The contact guy doesn't seem to like returning phone calls. Any insight you have on how to find a team would be appreciated. Thanks!

I believe that you can take Broad to Pattison to getto FDR park. I am really bad at directions, but you go towards the stadiums to get there.

Default Tennis match-ups

I live near 4th and Catharine and would like to start paying with anyone interested. Maybe we should post a sheet on the message board by the Courts of those who want to pay and times that are open.

ha! i thought that said "ghetto" fdr park.

you can take the BSL to pattison. head west on pattison after you get off the train and the courts are maybe two blocks up. i just played golf there this weekend and was able to lug my clubs on the subway with no problems since i don't drive, so a couple of rackets shouldn't be an issue.

if you want to drive, just head south on broad til you hit pattison and make a right.
