Did anyone else catch the National Geographic TV special last night on the history of Philly Mobs? As a new resident of BV and Philly, I found it extremely interesting that all this stuff happend right in my neighborhood - they mentioned mob hits at the Italian Market and at 6th & Catharine.

Not that I was surprise by any of it, but it was an interesting program, newly produced.

NYC: Didn't see it. Do you know when the next air date is gonna be?

It was interesting, but they fluffed up 20 minutes of footage to fill an hour of TV. They repeated every clip 2 or 3 times behind the narration, and there were long sequences of the same street scenes over and over again.

I think that was an old show. Maybe made 5 or 10 years ago.

It happened in your neighborhood because what is now called Bella Vista and Italian Market was Little Italy. 7th and Catherine and 10th and Carpenter were two of the most feared gangs in the city back in the 1950's
