What was the last movie you saw there? Titanic? It has been like that for the past few years.First, it was never "Hard Rock". It was "Philly Rock". Actually it was better than a hard Rock. Unfortunately, it closed a few years ago. Don't know why though because it seemed always crowed.
There is another spot there for a restaurant next to the former Philly Rock location but everything that always went there(from Italian restaurant to Sports bar to Friendlys) has always closed. Service at the theater is AWFULL. I only go there because i don't feel like travelling 25 mins or paying a toll for going to movies. Hopefully something will change but i doubt it because there really is no competition for them. |

I think ultimately, for whatever reason, it's not a location that's conducive to success. I hate going there, partially because you have to park in that dark, creepy area under the Interstate. It's not comfortable or pedestrian-friendly or, for that matter, easily accessible from most of the city, with the exception of the neighborhoods immediately to its west.

A poor example of urban planning, I think. It's a shame, Philly needs an easily accessible movie theater. (I usually go to the Bridge). tmcgee |

I went to the Bridge a few times but decided the extra money was not worth it after almost getting caught in the crossfire of a fight over cellphone use in the theater.
I hate parking under 95 too, but what is the alternative for free parking in the city??? The city really should install bright lights under 95 & the theater should have a roving security guard there at all times, and cameras |

I've never been hassled either. I don't consider it extraordinarily dangerous...it's just not very nice. It's not a good first experience there, so it doesn't really make you want to come back. The lobby of the actual theater can be as plush as you want, but if the patrons have had to slow through a darkened concrete wilderness to get there they're not going to be in a particularly receptive frame of mind.

I just plain hate driving. The Bridge for me from now on since I was introduced to it this weekend (that or the other one a block or so east on Walnut. I forget the name).
U-City has so much going for it. I wish it were convenient for me to live there.
