I usually do the same (get cleaning supplies, etc at big box). Don't get me wrong. I love the specialty shops...and they are abundant and convenient in this neighborhood! Just moved here and I'm was used to shopping for my staples at TJ's...and would love to walk to one in the near future! I may just have to look a bit harder for replacements to my TJ favorites in the local shops. In the end, I love this neightborhood! I don't care what goes up on the corner as longs as it's tasteful and adds to the local economy. Before I moved here, many people (mostly South Jersey co-workers) were telling me how dangerous things are and how Washington is the borderline to the ghetto. Rediculous. All I had to do was walk around and see all of the thriving businesses, ma-and-pa shops, etc. to know that they were full of BS! After 2am is another thing tho...heard something went down on 8th and Wash last night...don't mean to digress...

oh alesis! i can't wait for people who take you seriously to chime in on how wonderful that will be, or why it won't succeed bc jersey has one, etc. though, for any apple execs who may be trolling pb, it WOULD BE WONDERFUL.

IT WILL NEVER SUCCEED BECAUSE NEW JERSEY HAS ONE! I know you're being silly but I love this argument. Perhaps my favorite anti-any-progress-for-Philadelphia argument. I've lived in Philadelphia for five years and I've literally been to New Jersey once, and that was for a day trip to the beach.

Once I got married my new jersey visits greatly rose.

Ardmore has one as well, and its more convenient since the train trip is pretty fun, and the lunch options are far better.

its just wrong that philadelphians live in the 6th largest city in the country but have to commute to NEW JERSEY, the laughing-stock state of the entire country, in order to access upscale retail like an apple store.

An apple store is in ardmore, and only takes about 12 minutes from suburban square on septa trains.

alesis, is there a firm date for the construction to begin? I live not too far from there and the only sign I can see is at Broad and Washington. And why couldn't they put a few more signs up so the neighbors at 13th and Carpenter area could see?
