Hello everyone, I just lost my blogging virginity. I feel like a new woman. Ok so I need help from all South Philly residents. I am interested in finding out about the young, 20-something life, in that area. I am hoping to write a piece for a publication about that sort of idea. I have been visiting some local spots in the Italian Market and Bella Vista/Queen Village area and I have gathered a pretty similar story. There are alot of young artisit in the area and a majority have onced live in NYC and are back here for financial or other reasons. The attitude I got was young, ambitious and trendy. I think South Philly as a great prospective for a good old Philadelphia story. Can anyone help me with some names of people who have lived this sort of story? If I am fabricating all this, tell me too!
Thanks I am so grateful! |

For what purpose is this information going to be used?

And, while I welcome you here, we only post things once - in one place, rather than three times.
Your post will get seen - everyone uses the new posts since last visit - and people will respond, if interested. As for giving you names, etc. That's on the folks who want to respond. If someone is giving names, I urge you to do it by PM rather than on the general threads (not sure giving anyone else's name is an awfully good idea). I have no idea where you are getting the idea that the majority of young artists (which must be a real small percentage of people in S. Philadelphia) are from New York. That's not my experience at all - and I'm an ex-New Yorker. Now, perhaps if the thrust of your story is on ex-New Yorkers, you might have a good tale. If it's on typical S. Philadelphia people (or even typical Philadelphia artists) you've got some more research to do. Good luck. Welcome to the board.

Thanks for the welcome advice. I am not after a date via blogs. I much perfer personal contact. I am doing a possible freelance piece and I have done alot of neighborood reporting and am hoping to get some more stories. I like the idea about ex-New Yorkers and I guess I am trying to find a neighborhood, if one that there seems to be a concentration of them. I am doing alot of bar/cafe reporting and I was just hoping to get some more stories. Cut me some slack, I am not too internet savvy.

Besides, most of us know the value of money and wouldn't be caught dead in one of those tasteless places - if it weren't for the tax abatements. Those of us with smarts are living in Overbrook Farms.
