Question 4th & Catherine

I'm looking to move into an apartment in this area. Can anyone tell me how it is safety-wise?

"This area," believe it or not, is not specific enough. If you're moving onto the 300 block of Catherine, it's a nice little block. The 400 block of Catherine, not quite as safe because of the park, but still pretty safe.

OTOH, if you're going to be living on 4th Street itself .... well, not the greatest. There's a quick mart type of store at the corner that sometimes attracts not the best caliber of citizens, and the block of 4th Street between Queen and Christian in the evenings can become, well, let's just call it an open air pharmacy.

In the recent past there have been complaints of youths on bike holding up people but for the most part I think it's pretty safe.

Hmm...the landlord said it was an apartment building on the corner of 4th & Catherine....I think he said it was known as "Catherine Close" or maybe "Catherine Court" apartments?

Well, the rent is only $745, so it's probably not the best...

Two of my best friends lived 328 Kauffman which is a small street between Cathrine and Queen off of 4th Street. It had a courtyard and was an awesome place. It was also a catherine close place. I believe the landlord was a guy named Quirby. If this is the area its definetly a place to check out.

They arrested the kids on bikes quite a while ago.

I ride the bus down fourth every day and walk home along 4th and either Queen or Catherine every night (even in the dark!!!) and have never seen or had any problems. Yes, it's urban, but it's really fine.

Last night I was in the park, after dark, alone and it was just fine. There were a few couples, some people playing with dogs, etc.
