Default tax preparer in the area?

I can't get a decent rec. and I don't really want to go to H&R block. Anyone use someone in CC that they like?

I have used TurboTax for the past 5 years and have gotten great, expedient refunds every single time... It guides you through all of the data entry, deductions, etc. and even runs an audit check for you before it files online for you. Unless you have extraordinarily complex finances, why go through a middle man?

With TurboTax Deluxe, you get their Deduction Finder, plus the state and federal programs all for under $40... Well worth it, and you get your refund (if you are getting a refund) directly deposited in less than 10 days.

We have a lot of itemized deductions, loans, housing & travel expenses, etc- once I gather all the documents and receipts I can crank through it all in about 90 minutes or so...

Plus any deductions under $250 you do not need to present receipts for...

I've used turbo tax for years. I'm sick of using it and want to try and see what a pro can do. I have some deductions that ttax and their ilk never handled well.

I guess I will try HR and see what happens. Worth a shot once I suppose.

What about TurboTax and the deductions did you find the program didn't handle well? Just curious... I have never had any significant issues, but I have heard that for people who have some complicated or unusual deductions it can be a bit cumbersome, and the tech support at tt can be a bit lacking to say the least.

That said, I have also gone the preparer route before with various people who came highly recommended, and none of them were able to get me the kind of refund that I got on my own using turbo tax. Most professional preparers have little or no incentive to go all out to get you the best return possible- as far as I know they all get the same fee regardless of what they get back for you...

Some of the "little guy" places can be a bit different, because they have a vested interest in keeping you coming back to them each year...

To each their own I guess...

I hope you find a place that meets your needs- here are the major tax preparation services I have heard of (although I have not utilized them):

H & R Block
