i would go back to the black door any time. kildare's, maybe for lunch or an early dinner.
Is that the place that took over where the horrible Spanish restaurant was (for two seconds)? I keep hoping something worthwhile will go in that spot.

I'm not sure where you are talking about. Kildares moved into the old Uno's spot on 2nd and Naudain, near lombard.
The only spanish restaurant in the area was Maillorca, on south, between front and second, which was there for a bit longer than 2 seconds-it was there for more than 6years.

Technically, isn't any "Irish pub" outside of Ireland "manufactured"? It is my understanding that Kildares hires a designer and imports all of their furniture and decor directly from Ireland. In addition, their head chef at each location is sent over to Ireland to study under a chef their for a couple of months. (At least that is what they told us) To me, that seems a little more authentic than your typical american Irish pub that slaps up a bunch of Guiness signs and soccer (football) jerseys.

I say manufactured because you do not need to know a thing about the business and Diageo will set up everything for you. They design it for you from start to finish and have hundreds of these places over the U.S.

It is a bit different in my opinion than some of the irish pubs around here which are operated by people from Ireland. Not trying to take away from the place, just a thought.

HAHAHA...I must admit, Dweezel taught me something I never knew. I had no idea Diageo got involved with the formulation of theme bars-I am seriously amazed.
Though I never thought it was a true neighborhood bar, I do believe Kildare's carries a good product, and has a great menu that neighbors can enjoy before the "jersey girls" enter for evening drinks.
