Press releases announcing the official nomination and acceptance of myself for the 2nd Congressional ballot have been going out today.
Due to the fact many of us regulars, posters and lurkers alike, are more of a community than just a group of bits and bytes, I wanted to make a more personal announcement than a standard press release. Many discussions take place on this site. People discuss everything from local politics to neighborhood cleanups to reviews of places to eat. People also use the site as a way to organize social events as well, from happy hours to baseball games to bike rides. For the years I have participated in the social aspect, I have also used Phillyblog as a way to enable community and political activism. For those that frequent the Fairmount/Brewerytown or the Politics boards, you know to which I am referring. I have always been an advocate of improving my neighborhood and making government better and more responsible. You are most likely aware it isn't just talk, but talk and ideas followed by action. In the time I have lived in North Philadelphia, I have been an active member of my block and my neighborhood. I have been a part of the Brewerytown Sharswood Community Civic Association and as of the beginning of this year, I was overwhelmingly voted onto the Board of Directors. I have also worked with other community groups. I support the Fairmount neighborhood in fund raisers and activities. I am working with the West Girard Supermarket Coalition to get a grocery store and fresh food into an under served neighbrohood. To help facilitate the community work, I have also become more politically active as well. I readily contribute material to several of the local newspapers as well as some outside of the area (Pittsburgh Post Gazette and the New York Times). I am a frequent responder to the Metro's Reformer's Roundtable due to my steady and vocal efforts to fight for better representation and policy in our government. I have also been made Chairman of the 29th Ward. In the years I have been in the City and on Phillyblog, I have been a regular advocate of a better way of life for everyone. For someone young and relatively new on the scene, I believe I have a rather solid track record of effort. I am now taking this opportunity to raise the fight for reform, real solutions and justice to another level. As pointed out in another thread, this is one of the most Democrat oriented seats in the U.S, by voter registration. The odds are long and the time is short. This does not mean steps can not be taken and strides be made. This is an opportunity for people to voice their support for different views and solutions by casting a vote for Adam Lang and not for the way things have been. It is true that one person can make a difference, but one person with many friends and supporters can make a bigger difference. In these regards, volunteers and money are necessary to help spread the message. If you are interested in ways to volunteer or donate, go to my website www.adamlang.com. I would like to thank you all for the past support, current support and future support. Adam Lang for Congress 2nd Congressional District

I assume the "issues" part is still being hammered out. Otherwise looks nice. |

I would have been more then happy to help him with the website, but it is good enough.

My hands are full with my sideline work and cultural volunteer work, and I also wish to maintain my stance as an independent voter who is free to compliment and criticize both those I support and those I oppose as I see fit, but you can expect to see some money from me for the fall. It may not be a lot, but I will donate.
This Democrat is in your corner. Good luck!

My job prohibits me from taking a public stand on any candidate, working for a campaign or even putting up a lawn sign or wearing a button. (I am free to give money, but can't say who I give it to publicly!) However, as a member of the 2nd District I do wish you the best of luck in your campaign.
