If they miss their ONE and ONLY chance at making this appointment, I will do this all myself and figure out what to do for Internet on my own. I can do rabbit ears for HDTV and all the blackout games I can't watch at home... I can just walk across the street to Chickie and Pete's or to Scoats' place and watch them there.

We just moved to an apt complex in Wynnefield that three different Comcast reps claimed was "not in their service area" which we knew was BS. Fortunately my hubby is patient and persistent, and on the fourth call (inside of one hour) finally got a rep on the phone who was willing to do the work needed to open an account for us. A few days later two guys showed up at our door and had us up and running within an hour. I think the rep's name was Tamika. So... keep calling Comcast until you're lucky enough to get her on the phone... Good luck!

As long as there is a coaxial cable coming off the antenna (so I lied a little about putting down the coax) and you can splice it into your house coax you should be set. You might need a signal booster, I would recommend the ChannelMaster 7777 (I think.) The old antennas work amazingly well to suck in the HD signals. As for your DVR/Myth TV issues you would be surprised how many shows can be seen legally online with decent picture quality and a much reduced commercial load. www.hulu.com http://dynamic.abc.go.com/streaming/landing http://www.cbs.com/innertube/ http://www.comedycentral.com/funny_videos/index.jhtml and on and on .... also iTunes season passes for some shows are not a bad deal. The only thing you might occasionally be out of luck on are some hockey or basketball games or if you like out of town teams. You get ton's of Baseball on 57 and just about all of the Eagles games on 29 or the other channel that has them. And as you mention you have great sportsy bars to go to and catch any games you might miss. Cut the cable, shoot down the satellite, feel the freedom.

That's funny, on my 3rd online attempt they found my address and scheduled the hookup. BUT... and this is a BUT... I am not playing shufflepuck with the installation date. The house will be empty the entire time while I have to wait for them... so if they don't turn up on that appointment--I'm canceling the order and will do the low-cost alternative to get HDTV and broadband... which probably means putting up a new antenna on the roof and connecting it to the DirecTV coax that is already in the house. I have to have broadband for my job... can't dial-up and use VPN and transfer large files from work--but I can just move my DSL service over there. I would prefer something more than 3MB service. Heh I wish I could get FIOS or even an OC-3 line. Comcast supposedly has 16MB service... but I don't know what that will be like because I will have to share my connection with countless people on my block and the surrounding area. I'm sure there's lots of horny people surfing XTube and lots of people doing P2P, so that might give me hardly any bandwidth at all when the service is connected. Luckily, Comcast tells me there is no cancellation contract fee.

I am slightly disappointed that they were purchased by Best Buy, but I haven't seen them start to wholesale suck yet.
http://www.speakeasy.net/business/compare/ I've had them for 4 or 5 years, tech support when needed is out of Seattle, other than some minor bumps when initially setting up I've had no problems and pretty solid uptime. They are a bit pricer than other options but I've felt it's been worthwhile. I also have their VOIP service which you probably won't need ... but it includes most of the freakin civilized world in the free calling such as UK and Denmark (others as well but those are the 2 I call.) I have their home service but figure you might want the business one.

Wow I can get a T1 in my house?
It's not as fast as cable, but T1 lines are super reliable and they work in power outages... they also let you hook up full PBX systems to them. I can expense this on my tax return too on Schedule A. Hmm... me likey. Quote:
