Default Some interesting flickr finds - Old Signs

Not mine just some interesting old Philadelphia signs I have found on flickr.

Click on the photo to find the photographer and possibly a bigger image along with more of their work. I am not sure of the exact location of some of these and in some cases the photographer didn't reveal it, but if you know please share.

My paternal grandfather owned Caspar's Cafe. It was at 49th and Baltimore. The building is still there. When I last looked in 2002, the sign was still on the building.

I love seeing old signs like these, whether the ghost signs or the others. Some old signs that are characteristic of Philly but now gone from the landscape...
  • The Breyer's Ice Cream sign that was visible from the Schuylkill Expressway among other places. It's a shame they didn't do like with the PSFS building. Keep the sign, even if the former owners are gone.
  • The 7Up/Click Root Beer sign that sat atop a building just north of Broad & Washington.
  • The Old Hickory Bourbon sign at Publicker that was right there as you drove west on the Walt Whitman Bridge.
I'm probably forgetting many more. I've tried to find photos of these doing image searches to no avail. Hey, Baltimore has it's iconic Domino Sugar sign, we've got a few that are unforgettable too.
