Default PhillyHistory Photo Exhibit

If you've enjoyed the photos on PhillyHistory.org, please come to the exhibit, "Philadelphia Stories: The Building of a Great American City." It will be at the Art Institute of Philadelphia August 3-31.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'd love to see this exhibit and I've got a little something to look forward to in August.

I got a chance to view the exhibit today. Very nice. Many of the photos will be familiar to those of us who browse the phillyhistory.org website. Still, seeing them as meant to be seen, as black & white prints instead of on a monitor, it made viewing them something to be appreciated.

One thing I liked that I wish they did more of, having a few of the vintage prints side-by-side with photos taken in the past few years, a contrast of old and new. There were maybe six of these images. The rest were all from times past. If you're a fan of Philadelphia history, I would recommend the exhibit. I got there about the time that most folks do lunch and there were quite a few people who came in to see it.

I went with a friend on opening night and we were very impressed with the photos displayed. I agree it is definitely worth going to see.
