Default More Blizzard 2003

First shot is from Sunday, Feb 16, as the blizzard was ramping up.

On Monday most streets were de facto pedestrian malls, but only a miniscule number of shops and eateries were open.

The snowball riot during the noon hour in Rittenhouse Square had easily 150 combatants at its peak.

I spotted a small city sand truck with a broken axle on Walnut at Broad. That was in the early afternoon. Much later, around 7 or 8 that evening, I spotted this very same truck just across the Walnut St bridge - but now it was on the back of a flatbed truck, which itself was stuck in the snow, trying to turn north off Walnut. Several pieces of heavy equipment were involved in digging it out.

I spent a total of 8 or so hours trudging through this stuff with my camera on Feb 17, but with 2 pairs of socks separated with a layer of plastic trash bags, my feet weren't cold or wet.

-bump-

I'm too busy (read as lazy) to double bag my feet and go out for some fresh snow in the city shots, so I'll just reprise Feb. 2003. Besides, I've got to send for a new camera battery, as it now craps out after just a few shots.

El mentioned his attendance at the above Rittenhouse snowball riot in another thread.
