Hello fmoore,
Thanks for the photos of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge; they're wonderful. Have you ever taken the lower Race Street view of the Ben Franklin? I drive slowly when approaching I-95 so that I can enjoy the perspective and the arch of the bridge. From the Camden side, I've often parked in the lot by the river just down the street from Campbell Field to look at the bridge from that perspective. Something very relaxing about letting my eyes wander over the "movement" of bridges. Another kind of structure that captivates me is outdoor stairways that you find on Jersey shore apartments, rooming houses, and so on. Not necessarily the fire escape, just the stairs that allowed different renters to reach the rooms they rented. Whenever we walk or drive by certain stairways a strong feeling of calm occurs. I know how idiosyncratic that sounds, but I think it comes from my childhood in the '40's and '50's in Wildwood. Anyway, thanks again for those pictures. Edward Gavin edgavin42@verizon.net |

Thanks for the comments. The bridge/seagull shot was with the Panasonic DMC-FZ5, 1/1000s, f6.3, iso80. It was taken January 30, 2006 at about 11AM from the Tacony Boat Lauch at Princeton Ave - near St Vincents Home. There was a very heavy fog all morning but the sun was quite bright by mid-morning. Very eerie light. And the seagull was very accomodating.
Here is another shot taken at about the same time looking across the Delaware. This was with a wide angel converter to get ~24mm. ![]()
