Default Chicago to Philadelphia and back

Hey, people of Philly.

First time poster here. I'm a regular on another message board (CiN) based here in Chicago, my home, but I stumbled across this board while posting in a food related thread, looking up some info on one of my favorite things in the world to eat;
Fresh hot pretzels from Reading Terminal.

See. I lived in Philadelphia for 9 years.
From 1987 to 1996 I lived at 21st and Walnut (around the corner from The Mutter Museum), then in Germantown.

I loved living in Philly.
..and though I have a good life in a nice house near the beach on the North Side of Chicago, I still miss Philly and all the things I used to do there. It was a formative period in my life.

So, since this message board uses the same template as CiN, I thought I'd create a profile and say hello. I'll check in when I can, because I'd like to keep up on what's going on there for when I visit again.

I understand how you feel. I am going out to Chicago this weekend to visit a friend of mine who recently moved there and he has requested that I bring him a Wawa hoagie.

You're a great friend. I hope you get the hoagie without onions!! Could stink up the cabin a tad.
I moved to Virginia/DC and went just about over the moon when I found a REAL hoagie joint.

I still haven't found a place here that knows how to do a cheese steak right.

..on the upside; Chicago has the best pizza anywhere.

Yeah, the cheesesteak would seem somewhat straight forward, but somehow it's tough to find them outside Philly. Good pizza though, and great restaurant scene. It's a way cool town.
Have to been gaining expertise in the hot dog scene there?. I was there once, and felt like a total amateur ordering my very (relatively) ordinary dog.

Damn right. We need to set up a "cultural exchange" — we FedEx you soft pretzels and cheesesteaks and you send us pizza from Gino's East, the best pizza I've had outside of Rome.

In Arlington, 5 minutes outa DC. It's called the Italian Place, in the Lyon shopping center. The long lines move quickly, and meanwhile, peruse the fresh frozen pasta stuff (had the veal canneloni-excellent), or try some wine samplings (at least on the weekends). Other deli and gourmet items abound. Starbucks is right next door.

The smells really caught me as soon as I walked in. Combination of cheeses and meats, yum. It'll really take you back home.
The roll is quite acceptable. Not Sarcones or Amorosa, but good.
IM me if you need more info. This is THE place to sate the hoagie heart.
