Craiglist seems to be the best online dating site.


Anyone else?

I've tried POF recently and received tons of emails. I haven't met anyone off of there yet though so it could go either way.

I was on Match.com previously and was of the thought "well at least people might be a little more serious since you have to pay." But honestly, I don't think it makes a difference since a lot of the same people are on both sites. Have you had luck with either of them? I'm hoping in the meantime to meet someone in the grocery store. Hah.

Tons of Success With Craiglist

CL is hit or miss, but it's the only free one worth bothering with IMO. If you make a decent post as a guy you will get responses. I used to post about once a week and would get around 2-5 responses per post. If you're a girl and make a decent post you'll also get responses, but you'll have to filter the couple of decent sounding guys from the avalanche of weirdos. Now whether any of this leads anywhere is a different story. I met a fantastic girl on CL years ago and we had a 2 year relationship that ended kind of tragically. I tried again after her and really got kind of nowhere after 6 months of the CL game. Got a lot of bizzare stories out of it though! That being said, it does seem to me that the same girls or at least the same caliber of girls are on CL as are on match.com and others. I don't think it's worth paying any of these pay sites.

POF here and okcupid are more or less wastes of time with few reasonably attractive girls (no offense kristen, maybe you're one of the few!). But the guy to girl ratio on POF seemed really really high.

No offense taken - I am. Unfortunately/fortunately, I live in Florida and am highly selective. If I was just looking for "some action" or a sugar daddy, I'd be all set. But, alas, I'm educated, well-traveled, career-oriented, etc. and looking for the same. It's not easy out there. (As evidenced by me writing this at 10pm on a Saturday night...lol).

Whoa...I don't know what is going on out there. Man! So what's your story? You sound like a catch!

And, for the record I just looked at CL for the Tampa Bay area and there is crap on there. Same ole...I think it might be worse than POF and definitely worse than Match. I think it gets worse the older you get too. I'm 32 and I can't see it getting any better...especially trying to find someone without kids...been there, done that. Sigh.

In my opinion, PoF has been more positive than CraigsList. The latter seems to be full of really strange guys...not to say there aren't any on PoF but they do seem nicer initially and I've met a couple of guys who were cool. Nothing more than a date or 2, but it was fun.

I currently have a crush on a local guy, so I'm focused on that instead

You misunderstood, he's not online. He's someone I see around from time to time in my circle of acquaintances. I'm hoping to run into him sometime soon.
