Just because the information is salacious doesn't mean Dan isn't responsible for anything. You have to prove to me that Dan and Larry conspired together to trash Alycia, and well... I don't think Dan is that kind of person.

IMO, Dan was doing his job... he's the gossip columnist. If Alycia's own co-worker and co-anchor is calling you telling you about her dirty laundry--would you NOT consider passing that on to the editor? Even if Larry told Dan he has her email... is it Dan's job to go into "how did you get into her email? Did she give you the password or did you hack her account?" Dan is working on the equivalent of the infamous Page Six. And I've seen much dirtier stuff printed on those pages of the NYP than I've seen at the DN.

I think Larry simply just copied Aycia's email and then pasted it into his own account and sent it off to Dan.

I've emailed Dan plenty of times. He's not evil like you suggest.

Another reason not to use Windows. There are keyloggers for Mac but hacking a Mac/Unix/Linux box by just sitting in front of the computer is actually quite hard. If it's a community PC, you'd still have network accounts, and even then you can lock up a Mac or Linux machine up quite well so crap like this is virtually impossible to do.

On Mac or Linux (Mac OSX is a derivative of BSD Unix)... the only way you could easily tamper with the computer if you were physically in front of it, would be to grab a screwdriver, take the hard drive out, plug it into another computer and modify the startup scripts to bypass security, then remount the drive back into the chassis of the original machine... something he wouldn't be able to do at work unnoticed.

An administrator would never give peons in a company like Mendte the root account, so he wouldn't be able to touch Alycia's stuff when she logs on, even if he borked the machine all to hell.
