I did all the cooking for 27 years. My DH loved food, wasn't fussy, and was fun to feed. His mother spoiled him before I got him and he could cook nothing. He usually cleaned up (and always forgot about the counters). I have no plans to get married again but, if I did, I'd like to know that I would not be stuck cooking every night for another 27 years. I am very impressed by men who cook.

And, Tyrus, any man who cooks automatically gets better-looking in my eyes.

Dude - eating is not just about getting stuff into your stomach to make it stop bitching at you. eating is an experience, whether it's by yourself or with someone else. take some basic cooking classes, buy some groceries (real groceries, not the processed junk), and try some real cooking. it's going to be a painful experience at first, but once you get the hang of it, you don't need to follow the directions slavishly - you can customize and create your own variations of favorite foods.

plus, cooking is so much healthier and cheaper when it doesn't consist of opening up boxes and mixing stuff in a pot.

those microwave meals will kill you. after they make you uber-fat.

For me, that would be completely correct. I have zero desire to be with a guy who doesn't enjoy cooking as much as I do. To be really honest, being with someone who's every meal comes out of a microwave or from Wendy's is not appealing at all. I don't think most people want to date someone who's completely inept in a way that will greatly effect their daily existence should the relationship get serious.

Who said anything about WENDY"S? or the Mircowave? I said I go to the Market and buy stuff to make sandwiches and order from restarunts or go to subway.

Um. Right.

The Wendy's comment was just a different example of how a lot of people who don't cook manage to eat.

Yeah, I dated someone who was from Poland, and whose favorite food was potatoes. I'm a bit of a foodie and enjoy salads, appetizers, entrees and desserts. It was kind of a drag even going to nice restaurants because my interests are so far beyond potatoes, while my date was interested in potatoes and bread only. Took a lot of the fun out of it. It is most fun to hang out with someone who enjoys good food and preferably has some concept of how to make it.

I think I cook pretty well. The funny thing is though, I don't think I have ever dated a girl who could cook. Maybe they needed someone to cook for them

This is true mostly with "American" girls I've dated. NOT ALL. My last girlfriend was more your "professional" type and couldn't boil water or cook an egg. I would go to her house and have to bring my own food as though I was going camping or something. She said she felt bad but never would do anything about it. I would still open up the fridge and there would be a takeout box of thai food in there along with maybe a bottle of water and some bread. She may have eaten the baking soda out of desperation b/c she would rarely set foot in a supermarket. My current gf is more "resourceful" like myself and she often is the one holding me back from going out to eat. That's why she's a keeper!

I think guys these days cook more than the gals but not certain. It just seems that way. There must be some kind of study out there...

*snort* This is a distinct possibility!

Truth be told, none of the folks I know cook. We're all in our mid to late 20's and with the exception of me and my boyfriend, everyone else is still eating ramen or a stream of microwaved foods and takeout. How people can stand to live like that long term is a bit of a mystery to me. I've started to wonder if people are capable of actually doing anything any more.

I am not good looking. I am not skinny. I am piss poor.

I am very funny and I am a very good cook.

I get laid enough to not worry about getting laid.

Do the math.
