Coastal SoCal weather is the best ever. Also, there are a LOT of good jobs in my industry out there. Not sure if the woman would move that far from her family and beach home....

I guess I'm just trying to see if people are happy to be in Philly and happy that they chose Philly after all the experiences of living in other places.
We moved to the area due to military PCS. There I things I like and don't like (much like any other place). It's strange that I've had less luck career-wise here when there are more jobs available. I've had a harder time making friends here, as well. That may be because I went to school with people 15 years my junior when I first moved. Also, I don't really work directly with people now. I don't have an office, or a place I see co-workers on a daily basis.

Ah, okay. A friend of mine from PB (she is not much active here anymore...she finds PB crowd too snarky! hehe) is also trying to find a job in Florida and move there.

I hope I can make friends there aside from colleagues at work. Here in Dallas, I've really not had an easy time making friends.

Malloy, you rubbing it in to us about the SoCal weather?! :P You don't wanna move there...far too unstable, wildfires, etc etc. Plus, wouldn't you need a new citizenship to move there?

I got a job here - no choice, but I do like it. Like GMonkey, I'm having a hard time making friends, but that seems to be slowly changing. My parents are both originally from the general area (Wilkes-Barre & Riverton, NJ) so it's kinda like coming home. Except all the family members left in this area are 6 ft. under!

If we move again (likely in the next 5+ years) it will be back to the West Coast somewhere since both of our families are back there.

yeah, I'm jealous as well. In SoCal, I've only visited LA and the beaches/beach towns near there. Lovely weather, of course. About the best weather in all of North America I would say.

I'm visiting New Hampshire in May... will be going back after a looong time...can't wait.

I moved here sight unseen for a job. I was ready for a change, and I liked the taste of the seasons I had when I was living in Vermont. And I wanted to see what it was like to live in a real city, not a city of suburbs like LA.

I love Philly. Love it. Couldn't pay me to move away. (Well, maybe you could, but it would have to be a lot of money. And it would have to be to a real city).

Hopland, CA-->Cranford, NJ-->Wiesbaden, Germany-->Mountain View, CA-->Cupertino, CA-->Palo Alto, CA-->Half Moon Bay, CA

Half Moon Bay is a terrific place to live, unless you count the overpriced houses and a gazillion tourists clogging the two little roads in and out of here.

But lotsa visits to Philly and I LOVE it there!
