oh, i do self-dates all the time!!
my most common is usually dinner at the pagoda noodle house and then a movie at one of the three nearby ritz theatres. they're always playing something i want to see, or i could just go see the darjeeling limited for a fifth time! ...yeah, i do solo dinner-and-a-movie dates quite often... exploring chinatown is also a fun one. or the taquerias near the italian market. or the italian market itself. or i'll go get tea at the shop in rittenhouse and walk around the square with my camera. art museum on sundays as mentioned is always fun. lots of people mention bookstores... where are your favorites? |

^^ seriously, i hear that a lot, people don't like to go out by themselves... it gets easier with practice. i do a lot of business travel so often it's my only option (when in a new city a REFUSE to be a dud and order room service and veg out in the hotel room). i would suggest easing yourself into it with the upcoming film festival. a TON of self-daters come out of the woodwork for that. i had a great time last year - made myself a film itinerary and biked back and forth across town between movies in an attempt to burn off all those popcorn calories. |

Cosi's is pretty good for that, you can sit there and drink coffee or alcohol by yourself and not feel weird. I'd like to feel comfortable enough to go to bars and stuff alone too though. Summer is coming and my going out friend isn't going out much anymore. By the time spring gets here I will be itchin to get out so I have to learn to do it alone.
