Please leave bickering, political statements and ranting OUT of this thread. There are at least 9 other active-posting threads discussing violence, Street, Johnson, and the state of the city.

I will not ask this again.

Hijack it, and I will ask the moderators to politely delete posts and/or lock this thread. This thread is not a place for you to argue, but for condolences and to get updates on the funeral arrangements, et. al.

Default So sad, to honor his memory...

My grandfather who lived across the alley from us was a captain in the police force and growing up we did not fret on a daily basis whether he would come home in one piece or not come home at all. I think to honor Officer Cassidy's memory we would do well to take the time to thank his comrades he's left behind on the force , whenever we can, for the work they continue to do, day in and day out.

Default Possiblya relative

My Grandmother was Kathrine Marie Cassidy - and she was originally from Philadelphia born 1890 in the Cheltenham area. She was one of 10, children and had several brothers, John, Thomas, William, Frank and Louis Her Family burial plot is also at Holy Sepulchur Cemetry. Are there any articles that list grand parents or parents. I am 55 - which could make Charles my second cousin. After my own mother passed away in 1990, I lost track of many of my relatives.

My prayers, and thoughts are with the Cassidy family either way.
Sincerely, Eileen Marie Strenger Freeman whose Mother was Ruth Marie Wiler Strenger and Grandmother was Katherine Marie Cassidy Wiler.

Cassidy is a fairly common surname, but a genealogy search could give you the facts.

Sincere condolences to the family of Chuck Cassidy, may the fact that caught the suspect as promised be some comfort to you during this very sad time for you. The City has been mourning an Officer for almost a week but we realize your loss that is the greatest of all.
