I am embarrassed to be a Philadelphia citizen today. We should all be angry over this year and the lack of progress.
Violence affects us all and it affects things that don't have anything to do with pain, suffering and grief. It affects businesses, tourism, taxes, laws, and the general well-being of Philadelphia.
We can change it...someone tell me how.

I agree with most of what you said, but tourism was at a recent high this year, so it doesn’t seem to be effecting tourism, but I digress.
I think that solutions are hard to come by, the easiest is to vote for change. I know Nutter's going to win, so I'm not trying to get votes for him, and there's no guarantee that his policies will work, but at least he's proposing doing something. He's looking at proven tactics that have worked elsewhere, and I think he's just smart enough to make them work here.
Besides that it's about changing mentality, which is probably a generational issue. Jobs, education, futures, hope, respect, all these things would slow violence, but none of that will happen overnight.
