Default Poll: Would you consider a long-distance relationship?

So you liked the topic, eh?

Exactly what the headline says: Would you consider dating someone who is far away? Specially if there is a possibility of it (the distance) being a short-term deal.

Would you even consider who it is on the other end, or would you reject any and all who're not in the same zip code or same city?

If you would reject a possibility of such a long-distance relationship, then do you also think that your "soulmate" would have to reside within a local area and that anything other than that would just not work out and thus would not be the real deal anyway?

I guess you could say I'm not as jaded about "stuff" such as enduring love yet...

i have been in long-distance relationships, it's no fun. i would only do it again for the right person, and if there was this understanding that we were working towards a goal of one or both of us eventually relocating.

yeah, that's kinda where I'm going with it. I've had one bad experience. But that doesn't stop me from looking for possible matches afar. It does make you pause for a while and think if its a right thing. To me, it is, because I know sooner or later I'm moving to Philly. Now how do I convince some gal there that I'm not a jerk and that I'm actually wanting to move there soon! hehe

if you are gonna move here anyway, i would recommend moving here first and then trying to meet people. if you are new in town, you have that perfect icebreaker of "hey, i just moved here, my name is.." etc. it is pretty easy to strike up a conversation that way with just about anyone.

I married my long-distance boyfriend. Now he is my sometimes long-distance husband.

It can't work unless the possibility of moving closer is looming in the near future. Otherwise, he's just the guy bang everytime you're in Arizona, and the dude you spend all your cell minutes on.

Maybe you should stop trying to convince women that you aren't a jerk. Make them convince you that they aren't jerks!

Women can smell desperation. It's one of the biggest turn-offs.

Do the pickin'. Don't wait to be picked!

good advice, GMonkey. Thanks!

I do do my own picking. And after some consideration. So then I guess I feel I have to say something about my eventual move there. As it happens, I got contacted by two women from NYC area, wondering if I'd be interested in them. One, I wasn't interested in. The other one made me think why she'd be contacting me while I'm still in Texas. So I asked her. And she said it...her job will move her possibly to Dallas or Denver. So that makes me feel a bit at ease... at least she's not some psycho out there, or something like that. More often than not, though, I'm the one making first contact.
