Where will your next move be?

Sixth and Green

When and why will it take place?

Don't know when but it will take place after I die.

Knight to Queen's Bishop 3.

Not what you meant? OK .... My next move will probably be to a condo in Wash West -- in about 35 years, when my 80-year-old legs tire of climbing up and down the stairs of my QV rowhouse.

Before then, though, I'd like to spend a year living in southern Spain. Without permanently moving from my current home, of course.

Next move? Out of the city
Why? Increasing crime, poverty
When? Depends. My neck if the woods is still cool however Philly is increasingly a city where islands of prosperity are surrounded by the badland seas. You have to hop from one island to another to get things done. If the water continues to rise and the islands get smaller and smaller then it is time to roll.

I have to wonder where the powers that be in Philly live. They can't be living in the same communities the rest of us do. It must be a place where they do not seem to have a care in the world about the mounting body count, guns on the street, lack of economic opportunity and development, a dirty city with infrastructure that is falling apart and a reputation as the violent crime capital of the nation.

If the douchebag yuppies discover Camden, I'll sell my house for 7x what I paid for it and move to the shore. Otherwise I'll stay indefinitely. I'm quite happy here.

Or the total tool bags that drive a Prius. Of course they'll move when the kids get to be pre school age.

my 10-mo lease here is almost up, so i will have to move or renew...going month to month on this apt is too pricey.

So my next move is to Philly...where exactly, I'm not sure. Hopefully to Wash West or somewhere along Pine, but it really is all still up in the air.

When? That too is still, unfortunately, up in the air. As soon as I can move my job there or get another one with my current employer. Could be next month, since I applied for another job recently, or it could be months down the road, if ever.

about the sea of crime and islands of peace... definitely want to be on one of the islands. it's really not that bad, i keep telling myself. and having Mayor Nutter will hopefully start to improve things. Tell me I'm not nuts for wanting to move there even as the locals move out...

Not sure. I'd love to stay in NE Philly, things are very convenient here and life is nice. But it all depends on what happens with the Full Valuation assessment the BRT is planning.

Philly will just be too costly a place to live in then, and what with the high crime rate, poor schools (for the most part), city wage tax and low city services, I would not be able to think of a good reason to stay apart from the fact that most of my friends live here, and its a walkable place to live.
