Default Name 3 Philadelphians you would want to invite for dinner

they can be dead or alive:

1)Ben Franklin
2) m night Shylaman
3) Cecil B Moore.

it will be interesting to see your results, if you indeed reply to this thread.

If I can have the kind of power to arrange that once, clearly I can do it more than once.

Here my week:

Night 1 - How are we doin'?
Ben Franklin
Alexander Hamilton
Thomas Paine

Night 2 - What should we be doin'?
Ed Bacon
Noam Chomsky
Margret Mead

Night 3 - Who should we be doin'?
Maria Bello
Kim Delaney
Grace Kelly Monaco (a cheat.)

Night 4 - Did you really do that?
Ed Bradley interviews
Betsy Ross and
Nicodema Scarfo

Night 5 - How could you have done that?
Mumia Abu-Jamal
Ira Einhorn
Frank Rizzo
(After their combined trial and execution, they will be dumped in the Delaware by Al Haig and Arlen Specter, who will be promptly arrested for the killings.)

Night 6 - Comic Relief
Tina Fey
Adam Carolla
Larry Fine

Night 7 - Authors the fake Doc never read
Louisa May Alcott
Bram Stoker
Jennifer Weiner

Night 8 - Jammin' at Penn's Landing
G Love & Special Sauce opening for:
Marian Anderson or Billie Holiday (tie)
Paul Robeson or Solmon Burke (tie)
John Coltrane

What concert in Philly would be complete without Patti LaBelle and Hall & Oats? This one.

Cecily Tynan
Alycia Lane
Kerri-Lee Halkett

...since they are all from different networks, perhaps they would get into a catfight.

And while they may live around here now, none are actually FROM here.

So, by that logic, you are saying Ben Franklin isn't a Philadelphian since he was born in Boston. So, it poses the question: What makes a Philadelphian?

Putting aside Ben, the obvious, I'd choose:

Richard Gere (to look at)
Noam Chomsky (to talk to)
Paul Robeson (to listen to)

Apparently a distinct hate of Philadelphia.

I'd like to have two dinners this weekend with two groups of people.

Saturday with artists.
Alexander Calder
Thomas Eakins
Andrew Wyeth

Sunday with architects.
Louis Kahn
Frank Furness
Edmund Bacon

I might have to ask Frank to help separate Louis and Ed if they start throwing punches at each other.

So many wonderful Philadelphians already named! I'd love to meet for dinner many of my own relatives who preceded me, but most wouldn't interest you. So, here's a list:

1st night: Retail giants John Wanamaker, his son Rodman Wanamaker and Rachel, founder of Lit Brothers. There would be a much longer retail list, but they would make a great start.

2nd night: movie palace builders Alexander Boyd & Jules Mastbaum and long time Boyd Theatre manager Elmer Pickard. Help us save the Boyd at www.FriendsOfTheBoyd.org

3rd night: movie palace architects Paul Henon (Hoffman-Henon designed the Boyd and many Center City grand movie palaces), William H. Lee, Louis Magaziner. There are many other architects of movie palaces, Art Deco buildings, and other buildings, and many more people associated with the Boyd Theatre and other movie theaters that I'd like to meet.

4th night, rescuing Philadelphia: Richardson Dilworth, Joseph Clark, Thatcher Longstreth (from his first race for mayor in the 1950's)
