Default Who is the most infamous Philadelphian?

Who is the most notorious figure connected with Philadelphia? Alive or dead. Why?

The name that first came to mind for me is Ira Einhorn.

Default Infamy

Gary Heidnick? Though people from elsewhere may not recognize the name, what he did became pretty infamous across the country. "Buffalo Bill" (or was it Bob?) in "Silence of the Lambs" was based on Heidnick too, wasn't he?

Other recent infamy I think revolves more around an event than a person - the MOVE bombing. I'm not sure outsiders would be able to attach a name to that event, though.

What about politicians, historical figures and even sports figures?

Dr. J is certainly famous, but infamous???

For sports, how about Michael Irvin?

Or how about Mummia?

Irvin isn't from and didn't play for Philly, so can he count? That said, I still hated him when he was playing.

How about Mitch Williams? He may not be hated, but he certainly is remembered for one bad pitch.

Or maybe Eric Lindros? All the hype, no championships, and one very acrimonious departure.

In non-sports terms, I absolutely agree with nominating Mummia.

Irvin didn't play for Philly, but he did play here many times!

What about the MOVE people? Who else would you nominate?
