Default help! find me a trainer

Hello to all!

I am turning 36 next week and in a panic about the physique! Life is passing by and now is the time to carpe diem! But...I can't find a trainer anywhere that has fees for normal people. I cycle like a freak and have no problems with modifying diets. Can anyone recommend someone that can help me burn and live a normal life without crazy diets - just exercise - and won't send me to bankrupcy court in the process? Help!

Have you tried 12th Street Gym?

Default help! find me a trainer

I belong to LifeSport on Fairmount, right now. A friend of mine goes to the 12th Street Gym. Should I just go in and ask?

I think you have to be a 12th St gym member.... though I have seen some trainers sign in their clients.

the trainers at 12th st pay a few thousand per year for the privledge of operating as a trainer at that gym. They charge their clients approximately 30-40 a hour, and some trainers are willing to take on two people at once (effectively reducing what is coming out of your pocket).

Essentially you need to find out what trainers have operating rights at your gym.... I'm sure some of the 12st gym trainers also work at other gyms, but you would have to question each trainer individually....

... your friend could pick up their business cards for you since there is a bullentin board with all of them...

... but some of the trainers are good and some aren't... I'd suggest getting your friend's recommendation... though that's presuming your friend has observed the trainers in action...

Wherever you go, I'd suggest checking out the trainers' education and certifications. For example; CSCS= certified strenth and conditioning specialist.

Thanks for the input! I didn't think about certification. And I will ask my friend about 12th Street, too!

Congrats for your new body quest. In all actuality if you want to change the shape of your body, you will have to do strength training, and you don't need any trainer at all to spend your money on.

I suggest buying a book called "Bottom's Up," by Joyce Vedral. It is about 10 years old, but it will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about taking control of your physique.

You will basically need the book, a few sets of weights, a few pillows and a mat. You will get some slammin' buns from those workouts, and the rest of your body will look great too.

I hate the idea that people think they have to spend major dollars on something that their own bodies give them.

In no time you will be pulling out your old daisy dukes...lol

I just joined a gym about a month ago. I'm not with a personal trainer, but the personal trainers at my gym suck. They're so weak. I want a trainer who's buff or something. These guys look half-heartedly in shape. At my wife's gym, however, they are monsters and will work you till you bleed internally.

Anyways, the 12th St Gym advise sounds cool. I would look into it.
