Oh, cheer up,
although the movie has a dark "Reservoir Dogs meet the Brothers Grim" feeling that fairy tales used have- the movie does have a happy ending-
If you didn't have some conflict in the story, you'd basically be stuck with
"Waiting for Godot" done by people in furry costumes.

There actually was an item in the Metro on Friday about an evangelical church out in Western Pennsylvania that puts on an Easter pagent in which the beat and kill the Easter Bunny. Their explanation: Easter is not about the Easter Bunny and they are trying to put Christ back into Easter.

Wooie. Next time someone damns us Philadelphians for throwing snowballs at Santa Claus, we can answer that we were just trying to put Christ back in Christmas.

Also Hal: How about them rabbits that closed Natural Born Killers. Those were some unfriendly bunnies.

Not to mention the "harmless little bunny" that decapitates one of King Arthur's knights in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

I have to put in a vote for Greg the Bunny.

Lots of abuse, both verbal and physical, though the fabricated Americans gave as good as they got.

Man, I hope that comes out on DVD someday.

Of course, that's why you need a - Usagi Yojimbo -

Remember Whitney Houston & Kevin Costner in "The Bodygaurd"?

Yojimbo is japanese for "the body guard".

There's a cameo of sorts in "the Bodyguard, where Kevin Costner's charecter is watching a the film "Yojimbo by legendary film director Akira Kurosawa.

The Kurosowa's film "Yojimbo", which is a classic- it's been remade with Clint Eastwood in the classic spaghetti western "a Fistful of Dollars" and with Bruce Willis in the very good "Last Man Standing", but the first Japanese version is the best-

So, Yojimbo is japanese for "bodygaurd";

Usagi is japanese for rabbit -

put them together and you have:

And as Mel Brooks' Yogurt the Magnificent would say

MERCHANDISING!!!

That's pretty funny. As a Lovecraft fan I'm intrigued by the Cthulhu & Shoggoth plush toys. Maybe I'll ask for one for Christmas.

Hey, when we're talking about nasty bunnies, don't forget the "rabid" one that attacked President Jimmy Carter up in the mountains of Maryland. He had to fight it off with his canoe paddle.

And does anybody remember that episode of The Jefferson's where Louise was trapped in the apartment by a thief posed as a bunny?
