I’m new to phillyblog and have volunteered to be moderator of this forum!

I’ve lived in Philly for almost 3 years now, having moved down from NYC to finish my degree in Anthropology at Penn. I’m 33, live in Center City, and am currently doing research on urban dating. Why research dating? Well, it’s purely selfish as I am single and am fascinated by the plethora of media attention given to dating . . . from online dating, to speed dating, dinner events, and all the rest of it. I was actually hoping to create a separate forum specifically for Dating in the City, but Steve thought we could work with that topic here under Philadelphians.

I’m currently focused on dating from a male perspective, although will at some point expand it to include the female perspective as well.

I will be posting some snippets of my research shortly and hope to stimulate some conversation on this topic.

In the meantime, feel free to share your dating stories as I’m sure we could all learn something, or at the very least, have a giggle. ;-)

I did suggest a separate forum for dating, but the idea was nixed!

As part of our efforts to consolidate/redesign/etc. We are changing this forum to focus more on the people of the city and their thoughts on social issues, dating, trends, etc. It will still include discussion of famous people, but in order to help limit the number of topic areas and encourage more activity, Belle will be stimulating some of the new discussions along these lines.
