Sorry, I don't have South Philly recommendation, but can recommend Kehlers in Bromall (I think their email is mykidsgym.com). I took my daughter to a few summer camp classes there this summer and was really impressed and am now taking my 28 month old and 4 year old weekly. What I really like about the program is that I can go in a parent and tot class with my little guy and a preschool class for my daughter (w/o parent) at the same time. Also, they have this amazing climbing/ball pit/slide area called Fun Factory that you can enjoy after class at no charge. Kids went today and love, love it.

We actually live in the city, but couldn't find a gymnastics class close by (with limited research).

Check Old Pine Community Center at 4th and Lombard, and also Philly Kid Gym at 9th and South.

Default Palumbo Tumbling Class and more

Palumbo Rec. Center has a tumbling class, I believe, so that could give you another option. Also Kids on 12th (12th Street Gym in CC) has tumbling classes, as well. (If you wanted to go out of the city for more gymnastics equipment-type places, there's The Little Gym in Narberth or Cherry Hill; and The Gymnastics and Cheerleading Academy "the mother of all gymnastics places" in Cherry Hill).

I'm not sure exactly what is being offered now, but the Christian St. YMCA has quite a few classes for kids 3+ and you don't have to be a member.

Default Old Pine Classes

I just checked out the link for the Old Pine Community Center (above link) and I am curious, are the classes/instructors somehow connected to the classes at the Philly Kids Gym at 9th and South??? The class descriptions are (from what I can tell) the same. Also, does anyone know if the classes are well attended?

Much thanks!

There is a place on Bainbridge between 3rd and 4th. I think it's called Optimal gym? They are advertising a kids program for the fall and as I recall there was gymnastics listed on the schedule. I was just passing by, saw a sign out front and stopped in and picked up a schedule. I don't have personal experience with them.

the "phillyinmovement" teacher used space at old pine in the past to teach some classes. she then taught the classes at philly kids gym when it 1st opened, has since left, and is supposedly using old pine again as a place to teach classes independently while renovating a space to open her own place. i don't know whether the names of the classes originated from the gym, from her original work, or what, but i also noticed they are both currently using them in their literature!

If you're willing to travel to Narberth or Cherry Hill, you might try the Little gym, a chain that appears clean and well-run. Went to the Narberth one for the first time the other day. They even have a parents' night out program that we may try -- three hours on a Saturday night during which the kids have circle time, activities, a snack and a movie while the folks have a night out.
