Default storybookland

I wanted to give everyone the heads up on this. For years we have just driven by because it loooked corny but Hubby took the boys this weekend and it was a major hit (best day ever!). He said they could have spent 8 hours there. It is $20 in but you can go on any rides and it is specifically for little kids. It is open through the fall I thinnk and has a halloween event that looks good.

We've had a tradition (3 years running) around Mother's Day... go to Storybookland with the nieces and then buy a full carload of plants from Bob's nursery 1/2 mile down the road across the street. Much cheaper and better selection than any of the local places (Waterloo, Haughton's, etc.).

Story Book Land is great too!

Thanks for the tip banda, but FYI to anyone clicking on the link (especially at work), it plays music!

It is really beautiful at Christmas. At dusk, Santa comes out, waves his wand, and all the lights go on- so cute. And there are so many beautiful displays. The large musical wreath was a huge hit with my 3 year old & 1 year old.

A hearty amen here. It was a big hit with our child. I fear it will be a little too gentle and peaceful for kids older than 9 or 10, but younger kids just eat this place up. The rides aren't scary, the vignettes are from classic fairy tales instead of TV shows, and the unintimidating scale and pace invite kids to explore. We loved the north pole (especially on a 90+ degree day).

I wish this jklm douche would get hit by a bus or something.

Getting back to the topic, how does this place compare to Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, as we are thinking of taking our grand daughter there this fall?

I can't give you a comparison because I have never been to storybookland although I have heard good things about it. We did, however, take my 3 year old son to Dutch Wonderland a few weekends ago and I thought it was terrific. The rides were great, the shows were fun and my son had a really good time.

I have been eying that place for years. As a kid I always wanted to stop and play. As an adult it looks run down from the outside. It's good to know it's a good time. It's on our way home from my mom's house.

Storybook Land is as far from "run down" as is humanly possible. It is immaculate. It is astonishingly clean and well-maintained.

There is more in Dutch Wonderland to amuse an older child (like around 9 or 10) than there is in Storyland, IMO. My son loved Dutch Wonderland when he was a kid. I miss going there.
