I would NOT do castor oil unless you plan on defecating on your doctor and all the nurses present. My friend who is an OB nurse has told me several stories of women who did this and everyone was sprayed with shite and not exactly happy about it.
![]() The massage therapist at Ruth Daneman Salon on E. Passyunk (Rica) does prenatal massage and specializes in "moving things along". So far, all of her clients have delivered within 24 hours of massage. Also, she's really good at guessing the sex of the baby, which is kind of fun.

There is a herbal supplement called Fenugreek (trigonella foenum-graecum) which is supposed to help with milk production. I'm not sure how it works. If it actually helps with letdown, then it may stimulate oxytocin which would also stimulate uterine contractions (which is why breastfeeding helps with getting the uterus back to it's shape, etc)
Castor Oil: yes, it works. stimulates peristalsis of the bowel and well the rest is explanatory. good luck! |

I hear walking and just staying on your feet helps. I hear sex helps.
One old friend of mine finally went into labor after a female relative made her sit down and eat a big plate of collard greens. It may have just been coincidence, but she thinks maybe the digestive system freaking to process it all helped trigger something. I have no idea, but I'm just letting you know what happened for her; just be prepared for some digestive "issues" if it happens quickly! |

I'm sure that is exactly what her husband wants: her water to break in the front seat of his car.

Nope, not me...as of yet! I've only had one kid, though. My sister did with both of her kids (she was also barfing--she wanted me to see the video, but I passed
), and my BFF did only with her 3rd.My same OB nurse friend told me that many women end up prolonging labor as they won't push right because they are afraid of pooping. She tells them that it happens 60% of the time, and it's not usually a big deal...unless you've taken a bunch of castor oil before hand. Maybe that's why they used to give women enemas? I think that was common practice until the late 80s?
