I share what has been said - I found establishing the breast feeding relationship with both my kids surprisingly difficult. As one of my girlfriends (wo/kids) said: It seems so natural like they would just know what to do. But they don't, and you don't, and it hurts like hell. And then one day, it just clicks and it is the easiest thing in the world.
But you've got to give it time and find support in the process. Be sure and meet with the consultants in the hosptial and you might check out the monday support group at Pennsylvania Hospital. I found it invaluable. My insurance company also would pay for a visit from a lactation consultant, which was well worth it.
My favorite part is lying in bed, my son finished eating, using my breast as a pillow. He looks so peaceful and sweet.
I'm back at work now and my pump is my best friend. Be sure and get a bustier (they have them over at the Penn breastfeeding shop) so you can do hands free pumping. Allows you to type email, read a book, shoot, even drive your car while pumping!
As to the comment on no breast feeding in public, good heavens, get over yourself.
