Not the beaumont. It was just concrete floors and columes, no skin that I could see yet. It was sticking up maybe 3 floors above anything else near it.
It must be the National since that was the area. I just didn't think it was that far along or that it would be that tall.

it WAS the national--the BACK part will be 10 stories tall---it is now about 8, the front part on 2nd (west side) is 6 stories.

I don't know plans for the east side part of the project---do you?

There's a 10 story tower and two 6 story towers along with some townhomes.

The Pincus Bros. site is sold. I asked YS's developer and he confirmed it is sold, even though there's no "Sold" sign. Regarding the tall tower, I was told that was something the buyer had wanted to do, however I'm no expert on Old City regs, so maybe they'll keep it the way it is being it's such a beautiful (?)building. A supermarket is coming to Old City. The buyer of the buildings on the east side of 3rd, between Race and Florist is building one. Yippee, finally some competition for Sassafras and Mulberry Mkts.

Whether or not this site is historically designated, I don't see this square block suited for manufacturing as architecturally significant. I don't imagine its historically significant either.

i'd say that the building isn't but the location is. there's a plaque somewhere there, mounted on a building...dammit, what is it for? for some reason i think that it's something to do with the original flag. i'll have to check tomorrow.

The building itself can't possibly be historic - doesn't look that old to begin with and it is truly bland, ugly, and a detraction from street life. I think it's two stories, virtually no windows, set back from 5th Street, blank walls. What less could you ask for? It's one of the few buildings that should have been destroyed when they made the mistake of building Independence Mall in the first place. It would be great if they removed it and replaced it with residential so Old City could finally get a little park frontage in that area.

As of this week, it looks like Patriot Parking has taken over the 4th street parking lot of the Pincus Bros site. There's a manned booth in there charging to park at the site. Wonder what's up with that?

Apparently, the developer of the Pincus Bros. site wants to keep the building for a grocery store, and add a structure on top. I'm unclear about whether they are trying just for a 10-story tower now, or if they want to do both a shorter tower and a taller one (I was half asleep when I heard about it).
