The Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity will hold an intriguing dinner with some of the world’s rarest foods on Monday, March 7th, 7:00 p.m. here at FARMiCiA Restaurant.
Entitled A World of Presidia, the dinner will feature products selected by Slow Food for promotion through Presidia projects in France, Italy, Madagascar, Ecuador, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Ireland alongside foods from America's rich agricultural heritage, such as Navajo Churro sheep and artisan raw milk cheeses. The multi course dinner will be accompanied by wines of the Oltrepo Pavese wine region of Italy. Cost: $80 (includes dinner and all wines; tax and gratuity extra). Proceeds will benefit the Foundation for Biodiversity. For reservations, please call us directly(215-627-6274). I bet this event's going to be great--I wish I could go. My mother, who is an organic farm manager out west, thinks the Slow Food Movement people are snots (in spite of the fact that they represent similar interests). Regardless, good food is good food.
They produce a beautiful magazine--called "Slow" I think--it might be available at Whole Foods. |

It is sad that they will close the Metro on the 200 block of Market. I don't know what is it with that stretch of Market. It seems resistant to developing. You can't say that it is because it is the tail end of the street since the tail of Chestnut does well. There's that old tavern at 2nd and Market that's been vacant since forever. Anyway, I hope more places like Farmacia open up in OC. It really clases up the joint. Too bad its right across from Froggy's... |
