oh i totally agree with that. and really i'll be happy to switch to FIOS when it comes if it's faster and cheaper -- although really verizon is even bigger than comcast and just as evil, so what are you gonna do.

but if you haven't called comcast and asked for promo deals, you definitely should. and don't take no for an answer. i'm paying like $30 for my internet right now, and something like $70 for digital including hbo and showtime and whatnot. which i know is still more than the rest of the country, but is way less than what they say the price is. i just called and asked about promo rates and that's what they gave me -- give it a shot.

Your the second person to tell me that in a week, I do need to do that.

just chiming in that my comcast service -- all of it: phone, internet & cable tv -- was intermittently down throughout saturday & sunday. very aggravating that everything was affected

My Verizon DSL never goes out, never slows down. 39.00 a month for fast internet and telephone. That isn't a promo rate, that is what it rose to after promos expired. I have had it for two years now.

I'd agree with you if it wasn't so frequent. We've actually had a good run lately, but for some time it seemed like it was down for a while every couple days. Agreed that problems happen, but these guys had a lot of issues in the neighborhood within the past year and didn't handle it well; we simply didnt have other options.

We were able to negotiate fees with Comcast as well, but I still dont like monopolies. My Mom's got FIOS back in NY and loves it...lightning quick.

mine went out monday night around 10pm. it was fine by the morning.
