Default What do the "A" signs represent?

Just home in california from visiting Old City Philly: great town!!! I never asked, kept meaning to: what do the script "A" letters attached to light poles mean?

They're not in the Old City section, but I'm guessing you're referring to those on the Avenue of the Arts.

Default Thanks!

That's it: you are correct: now that I think about it, the signs were not in Old City. Thanks for filling me in. Loved the murals, the light art, the new and old architecture -- it all made San Diego look like cow town. If only the weather was as nice, I'd move to Philly in a flash. It was super nice from May 6-13, but enough people told me about the HOT summer and COLD winter that I know I'm just lucky.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay here. It is always refreshing to listen to people tell of their positive experiences (too many people only speak up when they have a negative).

As an aside, I chuckled a bit when you mentioned the weather because it is one of my complaints, but for the opposite reason. I grew up outside of Chicago and I miss having all four seasons. I like the progression from Winter, Spring Summer and Fall. Unfortunately (for me) Philadelphia tends to be more 2-3 season than 4.

We do have 4 seasons, it just been very weird weather for the past oh, 10 years...

I miss the days when we had a normal weather year.

Well, we didn't have one single snow storm this past winter if that tells you
anything about "COLD winters"!

However that WAS unusual. We usually have at least one decent snow storm.
But cold? It never gets as cold here as it does on the mid-west. i.e Chicago.

The summers can be hot. Yes, that's true. Hot AND humid.

I've lived here my whole life and I HATE it. I've never gotten used to it.
Ugh!

We have, at most, 2.5 seasons here. Summer heat, quick transition to mildly cold, quick transition back to heat.

Spring doesn't mean anything unless you've just lived through 4 months of bonechilling cold!
