On Tuesday May 13th and Wednesday May 14th when the Camden Riversharks will be hosting the Long Island Ducks, the South walkway will be open until 10pm or 30 minutes after the last out.

Wow - a policy that makes sense and encourages walking!
Several times in the past seeing shows at the Tweeter Center - it would have been VERY nice if the bridge was still open so that we could WALK home... |

Unfortunately, the bridge is only open late one week per year as part of National Bike Week.
There are definitely events on the Camden waterfront that would be much more accessible if the bridge is open late. The cynic in me says that PATCO doesn't really care about keeping the walkway open late because they don't make money on walkers, unlike the "Hi Speed Line" or the bridge tolls. But realistically, I'm sure that "desirable" bridge traffic decreases quite rapidly as it gets dark, making the costs for patrolling hard to justify. |

They also don't have the money for extra security at night. Not having it open at night would limit the hours someone could jump off the bridge and when the bridge was open after dark there was a problem with muggings and drug use.
