Default Shuttling to Penn Relays Logisitcs

Hope I'm in the right section of the board for this.

I've been tasked with driving my father-in-law to the Penn relays this Saturday. I believe he wants to be there at ten a.m. Anyone with any experience driving from Old City/Society Hill to UPenn (stadium) when the relays are going on? I imagine I'm going to need more time than the ride usually takes, anyone want to give me some ballpark ideas (and maybe any "secrets" about navigating the area come relay time)?

If it's a nice day I would recommend taking SEPTA's Market-Frankford line to 30th street and then walking. Just 3 blocks to 33rd and then a couple south to Franklin Field.

Or if you must drive, you would probably be fine following directions on their website (http://www.pennathletics.com/ViewArt...0&ATCLID=66184). The only traffic problems you'll probably encounter are parking over by the stadium.

good luck

I don't think this is the right section for the question, but it is the right section for warning us that south street will be a mess from the participants-thanks! I forgot that it was already happening.

I second the vote for the Market Frankford El. Much, much easier than driving and parking. Especially from Old City, where the El is so accessible.

You could also take either the 21 or 42 bus on Walnut St.

Thanks all. I would take SEPTA, or more likely walk it. I should have clarified beforehand; but my father-in-law's got two perpetually aggravated knee replacements, so I'm trying to do door to door as much as possible (I'm driving a slightly customized van for ease of entrance and egress, and my partner will be human crutching her father to his seat in the stadium once we're there).

I'll see if I can find some navigational tips on the sports board or check what they may have to say about U City.

Wow. You would walk it? I am impressed, Old City to U City is a hike. Can you take a cab? It would cost a few more bucks, but would definitely be door to door.
