Default Dog-friendly park areas & Internet service question...

Hi everyone!

I'm a Philly/Main Line native currently living near Temple's campus and I'm moving to 2nd & Race next month. I know there is the dog run at 10th and Lombard (Seger) and I'm also aware of Orianna Hill park in NoLibs. Although my new location will put me inbetween both parks, I was wondering if anyone knows of any non-official parks or areas that owners frequent with their dogs?

I've seen large gatherings around the art museum, so I know there there must be some around Old City somewhere, right?

Any help is appreciated!

Oh, and who does everyone have for cable down there? I don't really want Comcast, and I see that the Philadelphia's (stellar...) Earthlink coverage conveniently doesn't cover downtown. Are people having success with Verizon FIOS or their DSL?

As a non-dog owner, it seems like there are always dog owners along the green spaces next to the interstate ramps, like the space between Wood and the 95 ramps.

Comcast, we don't have Fios here yet as far as I know.

There are always lots of dogs along Wood street between 2nd and 6th. I live near 2nd and Race now (I'm curious - are you moving into Pfeiffer House?), and walking up 2nd to Wood then down to Franklin Square and back makes a really nice walk for the dog.

We also have Comcast.

Oh I just looked at Wood St. on Google Maps, it does look like a nice place to bring dogs. I'll have to check it out!

m0nstr42: No I'm actually in a rowhome between Front and 2nd. What's the Pfeiffer House? Is that between 2nd and 3rd? I have not yet aquainted myself with the area completely.

I think there is a fenced in dog run located at Front and Market behind the Irish memorial.

PS I've had Speakeasy.net DSL for seven years with zero problems

It's an apartment building btwn 2nd and 3rd. I'm just curious b/c we're moving out and they've been showing our apt.

No fence on Wood St. btw - not quite the same unless you really trust your dog off leash.

a lot of people bring their dogs to the grassy area at Christ Church (2nd and Market). It's not completely enclosed so you have to have one of those obedient city dogs I'm so envious of.

Also there is a fully enclosed area for dogs near Penn's Landing. It's near the southeast corner of Front and Chestnut behind the Irish Memorial.
