Agreed.

Further, I'm curious to see how this building turns out, as the developer has done a bunch of worse-than-mediocre projects in Northern Liberties.

Why would you buy here when you could buy at Symphony House, the Ritz, or the Murano (even Old City 108) for less?

Default Essex is beautiful

The developer has not done a project in Northern Liberties. Have you seen the building since it has been completed? Gorgeous. Penthouses are bilevel. Amazing views of the bridge, and the bulding is silent.

Who do you think the Developer is?
Why are you so negative, have you seen the building completed? Seems to me like you are full of BS.

Who is going to pay those prices for panoramic views of the 676/95 junction? The new bit of the building is no looker, and seems like it has been done on the cheap, with plastic cornice-work and siding. The part converted from the bank looks like it has been done decently enough from the outside.

Smile Olde City Civic

As a member of the Olde City Civic Association, I can tell you that we have nothing but praise for this building, as compared to many others which have been a blight on our little community. The building fits in with the style.
I've been inside the units during an open house, and you should see the view. The Penthouses have gorgeous views of the park and the river North above 676. Before you criticize you should actually look.

Default brick

By the way, I don't know how you can say cheap, when the entire new side of the building is brick and limestone.

As someone who walks past it regularly and sometimes actually looks at it, I can tell you that I have nothing but moderate distaste for this building.

What on earth is "the style" it's meant to fit in with? Has OCCA decided that mid-1990s brick'n'vinyl "executive townhomes" should be the inspiration for all future development in Old(e) City?

I'm sure it's perfectly soundly-constructed, but the exterior just looks a bit cheap close-up, particularly the cladding around the windows/balconies, and the cornice.

PS What "many other developments" are a blight on "our little community?" Apart from the National at Old City. I agree that is even worse.

Because I expressed my opinion?

You must be new to PhillyBlog and should grow thicker skin. Lots of opinions out here and as you'll learn, they don't always agree with you.

I personally think the Essex is overpriced and not particularly attractive. You guys have been working on that for the longest time.
