http://cml.upenn.edu/nbase/ I find some of the boundaries ridiculous. I am from Holmesburg & went to Father Judge. I am startled to find out that Judge is in Mayfair! Holmesburg - Magargee (Maybe Pennypack Street) south to Cottman, from the Pennypack Creek to the Delaware River. Now broken up into Upper & Lower. Tacony - Frankford ave east to the Delawre River, from Cottman south to Levick. Mayfair - Cottman ave, south to Levick St; Frankford Ave west to the Blvd. Lawndale - from the train tracks east to Whitaker ave, from Levick street north to Cottman ave. LawnCREST is Levick south to Godfrey, and from the train tracks east to the Naval Depot on Tabor. Question - what do you consider your neighborhood boundaries? |

I always found this topic an amusing one in Philly. Neighborhood boundaries change drastically depending on who is calling the shots. Usually real estate brokers make the most dramatic changes. When I sold my first home in Lawncrest, or should I say Crescentville, (Godfrey and Tabor) my realtor listed it as "Burholme Row Home"; a few years later when I moved from the Whitaker and Shelmire area, a different realtor listed it as "Fox Chase Twin" when it was clearly in Burholme. I guess they're trying to make a quick sale by stating the property is in a more "favorable" neighborhood.

I'm in Lawndale and I'd say you hit the boundaries right on the head. Upper Holmesburg goes all the way to Academy and Frankford though. |

Does anyone know the true Bridesburg Boundaries from all four corners? I know a lot say that when you cross Aramingo that it is no longer Bridesburg although there is a Bridesburg credit union about two blocks down on the other side of 95/Aramingo. I would say from Garden Street (Two streets behind Richmond Street closer to the river) To Tacony Street (Other side of Aramingo) then from Lurzerne or Wheatsheaf Lane (Down by the water department were the old single homes are) to Bridge Street. Which would make somewhere around Almond or Miller & Lefevre Streets the true heart of Bridesburg? Does anyone know the solid answer to these two questions.
Any thoughts appreciated! Kind Regards, Cappa

I use to live at Magee & Battersby. AY -- playground on Robbins & Hawthorne always had "Lower Mayfair Playground written on the wall. I always considered where I lived West Mayfair. The only nice section left . East is shot. I was St Tims as well but have not been in there since my dads funeral was held there. I always go down to my original parish of Nativity B.V.M in Port Richmond. Especialy on christmas, Its a great Catholic Parish!
