Queen Village was here before there was a Philadelphia (1638, give or take). Was Called Wiccaco. When Penn showed up (1682) he called it Southwark and it was just south of Penn's land. Name changed to QV afterward. I leave it to the historians to determine the date of that change in usage versus "official."
