Still, Castor Gardens, Rhawnhurst, etc, are a far cry from lame, no matter how you look at them. They are still tidy, pretty much trash free, even on Castor Avenue. So...the people may be a little darker, or a little more yellow, still plenty of white one, you know. Mayfair needed the civics to battle back from the plight it was beginning to suffer. I still don't see it in the above-mentioned areas. I do see new businesses going in on Bustleton Avenue. I do see more ethnically-oriented food stores: Asian; middle-Eastern; Albanian; Brazilian; eastern European. Is this really a bad thing?

My husband and I went to look at the property, it is a rental and is owned by an asian. The block was very nice the house on the other hand was nothing that he said it was unfinised not repainted unkept and when we asked him when it would be finished he said it was. We are still looking.

The handful of stores on the west side between Longshore and Unruh look pretty trashy. On the rare occasion that I have to go to 7-11 for milk or something small, it is pretty disappointing to see all the litter outside the stores on the sidewalk. It's not inviting, and it does not persuade me to spend my money in those establishments. "Back in my day" (summer 1988) I worked at the Super Fresh that used to be at Rhawn and Torresdale. Since I was clean up boy, I had the chance to sweep the parking lot. Yes, sweep the entire freaking parking lot from the store front to Torresdale Avenue. These places can't be bothered to sweep the sidewalk that is roughly 16 feet wide by 12 feet from the store to the street. I guess the owners' don't realize that few people want to dodge the trash on the sidewalk on their way in the door. I personally don't care about ones race, age, creed, religion, or whatever. If you move in as a resident, take care of your house and try not to be a nuisance. Mow your lawn, properly dispose of your trash, all that kind of stuff. If you open a business sweep your sidewalk. If you sell food kindly provide a trash can so your customers can properly dispose of the packaging or left overs. It seems like common sense, but it isn't common anymore... |

copied genos sentiments Good luck with your continued search by the way. Don't rule this area out there are probably some excellent deals out there. not to be negative ,but we must learn to accept the facts. - Facts are stubborn things. Look at it this way - If you move into a house you really, really love but it has a couple of absolutely hideous rooms you just hate, do you move out or do you fix the rooms? We just need to fix a couple of our rooms here in the US, that's all. I will selflessly volunteer to help.
