Default Mayfair Areas

My fiance and I are moving to Mayfair hopefully by the end of the month. We drove through a bunch of different areas and many of them look really nice. We especially like 4100 blocks of Barnett. Is there any suggestions on blocks that we should look at? We are not at all familar with the area so any ideas would be helpful =)

I guess a lot depends on what you are looking for.

If you're into bars and being within walking distance of them, you may want to look a little further north closer to Cottman.

Are you looking to buy or to rent?

Avoid anywhere near Torresdale ave. Good luck in Lower Mayfair, you'll need it, look in West Mayfair.

Yeah you really want to look for something in West Mayfair. My suggestion would be (from what I see when walking around the neighborhood): start with 3500 block (starting on Frankford) all the way down to Lincoln HS-Aldine st, Tudor st (2 houses for sale there), Bleigh ave, Vista, Chippendale etc. until you hit Rhawn.....

Stop discouraging potential new neighbors. We need all the good neighbors we can get to buy/rent in Lower and East Mayfair. Look at how lucky we got w/MayfairMeat!!!

He's the reason I'm encouraging them to move further northwest. If they were smart, they'd buy in Bridesburg.

We did look in West Mayfair, around Wellington Street and it is really nice but.....a bit higher then our price range. I think that we are going to put an offer in on a house on Barnett St. I think that is considered East Mayfair?

There's a few homes along Longshore Ave up for sale... 2900-3500 blocks. Ya can't beat the "suburban" quietness along that strip...AND the nice wide street.

Is it real close to the Playground? That might be an issue, the place can be problematic. If it's just east of Frankford it should be ok. And you can probaly go a few blocks further north and stay in the same price range if you wanted.

It's a real shame what's happened to that area. That's where I grew up right there on the 7100. That playground ROCKED when I was a kid.
