Question I need a odd size pre-hung door for the back of the house/kitchen to the shed...

I'm sure some of you must have run into this before. I have a row with the small shed out back built off the back of the kitchen. Well being it's the end house we have steps that go outside to a deck. So there is a door between the kitchen and shed. Back when the built these houses they custom made all those door openings to what the brick layers left behind I guess. I went to Home Depot and Lowes. Being it's a odd ball they want a ton of money and offered me pretty much nothing to pick from.

Someone must have some odd size pre-hung doors for these houses I can pick from. I have a good contractor who can professionally install it for me I just need something pre-hung that I like that will fit. My door opening is 31 1/2" X 78 1/2" I would just like to find a nice wood or steel entry door without paying an arm and a leg for it. There is one of those old old wooden doors there now and in the winter it's horrible besides looking beat up. I can only paint it so much! Thanks for any direction anyone can point me!

Odd size + pre-hung=

Your best bet is to order the size door you need. You can do this at Lowe's or Home Depot yourself or have a contractor do it for you.

Yea I was going to have a door made but the jam really needs to come out as well. It's old and the wood just needs to go. Trust me that's all I've been hearing!

Instead of the depot, why not try a lumber yard. I got a nice prehung door with a 22" transom on top for about $450 for my entry way.

Otherwise, why not buy a stock 30" door, cut it to length, and pack out the side with a 2x4. You may need to rip it down a bit but a good carpenter should handle this no problem.
