On a handful of street corners in Philly you see people selling big area rugs, towels and even furniture out of a van. Do they really do a good business?
I prefer to buy my rugs from a store that I know will be there the next day! There's one person who is always at an empty parking lot selling flags of various kinds near Bells Corner. How much of a demand can there be for flags? I never see anyone buying anything there, but he keeps coming back to that spot so he must do some kind of business. I know nothing about such businesses, someone told me some of them are a "front" for selling other kinds of things...who knows?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of these vendors and I think it just looks trashy to have your rugs clipped to your van and a ton of flags waiving. The one that annoys me the most is the furniture guy at the old Eckerd at Bustleton and Red Lion.
I wish they would go away, because I'm sure all of these guys have business licenses and are paying BPT. |
